Library updates:

It was a bit of a whirlwind week! I saw a play and a Dolly Parton cover band (not at the same time, unfortunately). I had a follow-up with the nurse practitioner who prescribes my meds to tell her that everything is going well and she should keep the Lexapro coming. I lost my phone for a few hours after drinking too many martinis, but thankfully it was with a friend (hi, SJ!). I ate loaded tater tots and beef tartare within two days of each other. I had a long catch-up with a good friend (hi, Alyssa!). I walked on a beach, under a sky full of kites. I have not written a (fictional) word in probably a month, but I’m planning to change that.

All this to say, no, I have not yet finished Swing Time. But I’m enjoying it and hoping to finish it before I go on a trip later this week. I’ve written before about the pressure of choosing a book (or three) to bring on vacation, but I do really enjoy the feeling of cracking open a fresh book on an airplane——especially when the flight is going to be six-plus hours long.

This is a short one this week, huh? Sorry not to have more exciting (or at least lengthy) updates. I have to say, overall, I had a really nice week! But in some ways, I’m still trying to find the right levels of personal, vulnerable, and whimsical with this blog. It’s easy when I have a book to write about, especially if I loved it or hated it (or just have a lot of feelings about it in general). It’s tougher when I’ve been busy and it’s mostly life stuff swirling around in my head. I want to share some of the big things, or at least big things that have impacted my reading, or that I feel excited or happy about sharing, or that I think might make me feel better to write about and have other people read. But I also don’t want to blurt out everything on a public forum; some things are best kept between me, my parents, my friends, and my therapist.

So, in that spirit, since there isn’t very much more for public consumption to be shared, I will end the missive here. Because of the aforementioned trip in a few days, there likely won’t be a missive next Sunday. But I hope you all have a wonderful week and weekend, and that you get to read as much as you’d like!

Closing thoughts:

You don’t have to share everything in a public forum. But if you want to, go ahead. It’s your life to live and share as you see fit. (Thought maybe keep some of the details to yourself——you deserve your privacy . . . and your secrets.)
