Library updates:
I’m sitting on my couch, listening to some lo-fi study beats, trying to get ahead on some grad school work, and I wasn’t planning on posting an update today. I took a little vacation time the last two weeks, and I thought I’d maybe treat myself to one or two more weeks off. But here I am, back in the Library! Still no finished books to show for myself, since the Library has remained largely untouched since the summer session of grad school began, but I have finished two grad school books, I only have one and a half left to read for my lit class before my reading time is my own once more. Now that I mostly have a routine down for balancing work, school, social activities, and rest, my main goal for the fall semester is to learn how to weave my personal reading time back into my schedule.
Anyhow, this is going to be another short write-up, because though I did a lot over the last few weeks, the Moratorium Library is for recounting reading habits and book reviews, not Sicilian escapades. To avoid sounding too much like a student just home from study abroad, I did have a lovely time in Sicily, including an overnight train from Rome to Palermo, so many days on the beach and in the sea, ancient cities, past, seafood, and just so much limoncello. I’m grateful for it all, and for the fact that I was able to keep up with my grad school work while I was there, and that I got to read so much. (I did also watch four movies on the flight home——my brain was too tired to focus on real literature.)
I think I had more ideas when I started drafting this, but this is all I’ve got for now. More to come next week——maybe even a finished Library book? Let’s not get too excited.
A selection of Sicilian scenes.
Closing thoughts:
Letting a habit slip for a few days, weeks, or even months in order to let yourself relax is not a bad thing. If it serves you and is important to you, you’ll find your way back to it.
Total books read from the Moratorium Library: 36
(Total books added to the Library: 52)
I will no longer be repenting for my sins, merely recording them as fact.
